Known for their fiery live shows, Con Brio is a living, evolving testament to the power of soul. Fronted by 21-year-old phenom Ziek McCarter — a charismatic, undeniably gifted showman whose stage presence calls to mind the magnetism of a young Michael Jackson or James Brown — the band’s sound traces a clear lineage from the dirty funk, blues, and psychedelic legacy of Bay Area legends like Sly and the Family Stone, with a nod toward ‘90s neo-soul trailblazers like D’Angelo, but with an eye to the future: A drive for experimentation, for pushing their high technical ability higher, for reaching beyond the familiar — approaching a deep R&B groove, a hard-rock guitar solo, or the warm peal of a Hammond organ with an ambitious, progressive sensibility.

Named for a musical direction meaning “with spirit,” Con Brio has been packing Bay Area venues since 2009 — from the storied Cafe du Nord to Great American Music Hall to The Independent, as well as clubs across the country during their first national tour in 2012. The band has shared stages with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and Meshell Ndegeocello, and opened for the venerable Trombone Shorty at the Fillmore.

All of which is to say: They throw one hell of a dance party.
WHISKERMAN (release party!)
WHISKERMAN (release party!)
The youngest of three brothers and the son of two musicians, Graham Patzner didn't have much choice. Starting on piano at age five and then moving on to violin, trumpet and guitar, the Whiskerman singer and front-man has cultivated a unique sound that is hard to pinpoint. His voice ranges from smoky to soaring, while his songs span a wide array of moods and genres, yet always remain soulful. Behind him is a tight band that includes Will Lawrence on bass, Nick Cobbett on drums, and Charles Lloyd sharing guitar duties. Collectively they form Whiskerman, and they are quickly becoming a force in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Their self-titled debut album was recorded in Oakland and released in September 2011. It can be purchased on iTunes and other online retailers.

Their latest EP was recorded in LA with producer Tony Berg and is due out this fall.
Cradle Duende
Cradle Duende
Cradle Duende presents a fusion of Klezmer & Balkan influenced melodies with Latin rhythms, and eco-conscious hip-hop lyrics. Cradle Duende takes its name from the Spanish word “duende”, in reference to a musically heightened state of emotion, expression; and a merging of disparate musical traditions that each evolved from independent cradles of civilization. Cradle Duende brings the strength of deep cultural roots into the party atmosphere!

“Cradle Duende’s great playing and amazing repertoire reaches from Poland to Morocco with many wonderful stops in between. They were a big hit.” --MC Bill Schechner, Co-Anchor of NBC News-Overnight
