WINTER
Samira Winter -- Echo Park’s queen of dream pop, otherwise known as WINTER -- is a consistent flow of creativity, and seemingly never stops putting out dream-like music.

Her 2018 release Ethereality is the culmination of multiple eras of Samira Winter’s life. “I started writing it while I was in college,” she explains. “I felt like I was in this in-between phase of feeling nostalgic from what I had just experienced and a feeling of not wanting to ‘grow up.’ As an artist, it’s extremely important for me to be connected with my inner child and to maintain a beginner’s mind when writing songs.” With Ethereality, Winter has tapped into her listeners’ childhood & adolescence, and all the uncomfortable yet exciting emotions that came along with them. Samira goes on to say, “When I was writing these songs I wasn’t thinking about playing them live or recording them – at that moment they were just for me, like a diary entry that gave me so much excitement. The songs ranged from being about my friendships in college (“Alligator”), my lovely cat Zoey, a boyfriend that showed me the world of shoegaze (“Sunshine Devine”), and that cathartic feeling of sadness mixed with nostalgia mixed with beauty that I'd like to call "ethereality.”

Estrela Mágica is a collaboration between Winter (Samira Winter) and Triptides (Glenn Brigman). The duo didn’t plan on making a record together; they simply set out to create the type of music they both loved. Sighting influences from Brazil’s colorful Tropicalia movement as well as the phased out sunshine psychedelia of the American 1960’s, Winter and Brigman started blending together their favorite musical colors into a brand new sonic palette. Two years and a dozen home recording sessions later, they had crafted enough material to form the Estrela Mágica LP.

The pair first met in Los Angeles and immediately bonded over their mutual love of Brazilian music and culture. Winter, growing up in Curitiba, Brazil was exposed to mpb, samba and tropicalia at an early age by her mother Maristela, who used to sing “Ele Dorme” and “Raio De Sol” to young Samira (both appear as new arrangements on the record). Brigman, while attending Indiana University, was introduced to Brazilian music by his roommate Pedro Assad who left him a collection of Brazilian samba, bossa nova and tropicalia LP’s upon moving to Rio de Janeiro.
Triptides
Triptides
Triptides is a psychedelic rock group led by multi-instrumentalist Glenn Brigman. It began as a series of home recorded tape machine experiments. As the music has grown and transformed, so has the project. As a musician and a producer, Brigman has always surrounded himself with other like minded musicians who have allowed him to perform his recording studio creations for audiences across the USA and Europe. From festival appearances at Desert Daze and Barcelona Psych fest to late night appearances on Last Call with Carson Daly and a West Coast tour with UK’s Temples, the group has continued a strong pace and shows no signs of slowing down. The group released their latest record “Visitors” this summer to critical acclaim with AllMusic calling it “their best sounding record to date” and LA Record describes it as “an expansive expedition into the under current of the late sixties.”
