Formed in 1995 by Makoto Kawabata at the same time as the Acid Mothers Temple Soul Collective. The group released its debut album in 1997 on PSF Records (Japan), and it was selected as one of the year's best albums in the The Wire magazine (UK). In 1998 the group played their first tours of the US and Europe. Since then the group has released a huge number of albums on labels from many different countries. As of 2017, the group has released around 80 albums. Every year since 1998, they have toured extensively in the US and Europe, and more recently have started performing around Asia and in Japan too. 

The group has performed in collaboration with many musicians including psychedelic originators Gong and Guru Guru, Simeon (Silver Apples), Nik Turner (Hawkwind), and the Occitanian trad sinder Rosina de Peira. Japanese collaborators have included Afrirampo, Tatsuya Yoshida (Ruins), Maso Yamazaki (Masonna), Seiichi Yamamoto (Boredoms), Jun Kuriyama (The Ox), and many others.

To begin with the group had a floating line-up with contributions from many members of the AMT Soul Collective. But as tours became more frequent, the group began to coalesce around a core touring line-up. Other bands were created with Acid Mothers Temple as part of their name (AMT & The Cosmic Inferno, AMT SWR, AMT & The Space Paranoid, Acid Mothers Gong, Acid Mothers Guru Guru, etc.), but AMT & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. has continued to function as the mothership and main lineage for all our activities.

In 2016, 21 years since the group's founding, there was a major shift in the line-up and "Next Generation" was added to the name. We now view the first 20 years as chapter one in our story, and we are now turning the page to start chapter two. The current touring line-up is: Makoto Kawabata (the sole original member), Hiroshi Higashi, Mitsuko☆Tabata, Nani Satoshima, and Wolf.

Yamantaka // Sonic Titan is a Noh-Wave prog collective, a black-and-white (and sometimes red) theatre company, an operatic psych cult, rock band and the speculative prophets of humanity’s impending doom.

Above it all, though, they’re a thunderous rock band, and on their upcoming third album, DIRT, they’re the heaviest they’ve ever been.

As they near their 20th year as a band, Kinski show no signs of slowing down. They continue to push forward, seeking out new ways to blow your mind. Their new record, Accustomed to Your Face, sounds as free and daring as their early forays, but with the luster of confidence that comes with two decades of playing together.

Having played arenas and festivals across North America and Europe, Kinski are equally at home in a local club where they can test out new material, looking to find that choice spot between pure sound exploration and off the hook riffage. One never knows what to expect when seeing Kinski live (there may be some flute, a bass played with a bow), but no matter where the music ventures it will always come back round to expertly crafted, rhythmically solid rock.

Accustomed to Your Face reflects that multi-faceted approach. In the tracks "Guest Girl Vocalist" and "There Goes Hot Stamper", Kinski seem to have harnessed the power of early punk and wed it to their own tight and head-on approach to the genre. But then there is "Kinski 101," a celebratory nod to their quintessential style of dynamically structured instrumental pieces. Weaving it all together is Kinski's consistent command of their craft. The rhythm section is dialed in and the interplay between the guitars continues to be more than the sum of their parts.

With deep roots in krautrock and South American rock of the 60's and 70's, Kinski have always been a proponent of like-minded groups from around the world, and have brought many bands to the U.S. including Acid Mothers Temple (Japan) and Träd, Gräs Och Stenar (Sweden). Similarly, their collaborations with artists such as the dance duo robbinschilds and installation artist Jim Hobbs have been fruitful, allowing them to further delve into regions of sound, working from different perspectives while connecting with new audiences that may have otherwise remained unaware of their work.

Watching the Mountain Movers' progression over the course of the past decade has truly been a treat. Their earliest beginnings saw the band documenting Dan Greene’s vast catalog of songs, while displaying a rotating cast of New Haven musicians’ unique skills. The band produced three albums and several singles of polished indie rock in this incarnation. However, their fourth album, 2010’s Apple Mountain, saw the band transition to stranger territory; home-recorded and employing an arsenal of miscellaneous instruments, the record bore a folk-psychedelic element not displayed on their previous work. Shortly after Apple Mountain, constant members Greene and Rick Omonte were joined by lead guitarist Kryssi Battalene and drummer Ross Menze to form, what is now, the band's longest running lineup. The band has since produced a series of singles, lathe-cuts, cassettes, 2015’s Death Magic; an album that melded Greene’s song writing with the bands ability to stretch out and improvise. In 2016, they previewed the "Sunday Drive / No Plans" cassingle (recorded at former drummer John Miller’s home studio), giving us - the listener - the first glimpse into the Movers’ newest modes. Two instrumental improvisations clocking in at just under 20 minutes that bring to mind names like Neu! and Ash Ra Tempel, as much as they do any number of American psychedelic acts of the 1960’s. The band's sixth, eponymous album "Mountain Movers" is bookended by two long-form jams with three perfect, crystalline pop songs sandwiched in between, mirroring both aspects of the band & representing the most fully realized recorded representation of the band's live show to date. Expect it to surface in May, 2017 on Chicago's Trouble In Mind Records.
