JASON MORRELL (album release)
Jason Morrell was born and raised on the music of Appalachia in Bluff City, TN. He has been playing and singing since a child and has been leading bands professionally since age 18. His debut album "An Unorthodox Elegy" tells stories of coming of age, love and loss and was recorded at the incomparable Tiny Telephone and produced by the incredible Jamie Riotto. "An Unorthodox Elegy" is a semi-exhaustive look at the key moments that have helped shape and form him up to this point in his life, shrouded in rich synth and unique layered vocal stylings.
Lapel (single release)
Lapel (single release)
After years as a backing vocalist and keyboardist sitting in with bands like Ezra Furman, Curls (Christopher Owens), and The Family Crest, Debbie Neigher has claimed her place in the spotlight with Lapel, a new solo project from the San Francisco music scene veteran. By turns playful and personal, introspective and danceable, Lapel’s debut record Periphery -- co-produced by Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Tune-Yards) and Neigher herself -- marks a new sound for the artist, trading piano-based indie pop for an immersive electronic sound, with contributions from members of Geographer and Astronauts, Etc.. Neigher named the project after a quote by the Canadian activist Margaret Trudeau; when asked about her marriage to the former Prime Minister, Trudeau replied, "I want to be more than a rose in my husband's lapel.” In other words: Lapel is a new beginning, but it’s been a long time coming. “It’s a proclamation,” says Neigher, “against allowing yourself to be defined or diminished by anyone else.”
