THE SESHEN
THE SESHEN
The Seshen is a San Francisco Bay Area-based six-piece led by singer/lyricist Lalin St. Juste and bassist/producer Akiyoshi Ehara. Their forward-thinking sound combines synthesizers, drum machines, live percussion, and entrancing harmonies to create an unmistakable fusion of R&B, synth-pop, and electronic music. St. Juste and Ehara are joined by four remarkable bandmates to create their multidimensional music: drummer Chris Thalmann, keyboard/synth player Mahesh Rao, percussionist Mirza Kopelman, and sampler Kumar Butler. They take inspiration from across the musical spectrum; their individual influences range from recognizable artists (Erykah Badu, Jai Paul, James Blake, Radiohead, and Broadcast) to genres and eras that don’t initially appear to fit together (hip hop, indie rock, early electronica, and 70’s dub). Their unique alchemy of seemingly disparate sounds has led fans and critics alike to describe the band as defying categorization.

The Seshen’s latest release, Flames & Figures (October 14, 2016 – Tru Thoughts), was two years in the making and marks an evolution in their distinctive sound. Narrated by St. Juste’s lyrical stream of consciousness, Flames & Figures explores themes of femininity, power, illusion, and loss, as she draws on both her personal experiences and the world of her imagination.
JAMES SUPERCAVE
JAMES SUPERCAVE
LA-based James Supercave combine psych aesthetics with a pop sensibility creating a groove-hugging sound that’s dark but inviting. Hailing from Echo Park, the trio of Joaquin Pastor, Patrick Logothetti and Andrés Villalobos blend a range of influences and sounds - at once groovy and rhythmic, other times soulful and freaky. After dropping a debut EP, 2015’s The Afternoon, Supercave shared the stage with bands like Warpaint, Chet Faker, Jungle and Future Islands, before returning to studio.

Supercave released their debut LP Better Strange in 2016. Singles 'The Right Thing,' 'Burn,' and title track 'Better Strange' represent a fully focused realization of the complex sound the band hinted at in the past. Picked up by NPR and Sirius XM radio play, the band’s live 5-piece live performance has been seen on a sold-out US tour with Wilde Belle, as well as extensive West Coast headlining dates, notably including a recent top-billed Los Angeles festival play alongside Grammy-winning duo Brasstracks.
Yassou
Yassou
Formed in upstate New York, now based in San Francisco, YASSOU is a six-piece art-pop band that makes tightly composed music with integrity. Anchored by the mesmerizing stage presence of lead-singer Lilie Hoy, YASSOU employs unconventional song structures, shifting time signatures, and stunning video storylines.

Compared to the likes of Radiohead and FKA twigs, Billboard has recently named YASSOU a band that “should to be on your radar,” while Delusions of Adequacy called them “what the people want.”

YASSOU premiered their first full-length composition at the Louisville Ballet this September to standing ovations. Alongside the works of Tchaikovsky and Philip Glass, their performance is part of the 2016-17 season and was accompanied by the Louisville Symphony and the ballet’s original choreography. YASSOU began 2016 opening for The National and is now filming their next video project.
