THE BRUNETTES
New Zealand pop outfit that ably incorporates girl group pop, Phil Spector sonics, and Beach Boys symphonic sweep into their sugary sound. "Songwriter/producer Jonathan Bree and lead singer Heather Mansfield sound like they've digested decades' worth of bubblegum, echoes of everything from Joe Meek to the Apples in Stereo crop up in these songs, but the mixture of plinky synths and Burt Bacharach chords at the root of songs like 'Talk to Jesus' or 'End of the Runway' sounds refreshing and unique most of the time." -- AllMusic.com

THROW ME THE STATUE
Originally the one-man project of multifaceted musician and songwriter Scott Reitherman, TMTS has since expanded to a quartet with drummer Jarred Grimes, and multi-instrumentalists Aaron Goldman and Charlie Smith. While the band retains much of the lo-fi bliss found on their critically acclaimed debut Moonbeams, Creaturesque brings the band's maximalist pop sensibilities to new heights. Album opener "Waving At The Shore" invites you to the party with lush organ/guitar lines, only to have the horn section and big multitracked keyboards burst into the chorus with all the glitz of 80's era Bowie. "Hi-Fi Goon" is a power pop jam, complete with buzzing synth and a sing-along chorus. On lead single "Ancestors," Reitherman spins a somber story into a pop song tour de force amidst gazing guitars, athletic fuzz-bass and a crystalline wall of synthesizers. "Easily comparable to more than a few West Coast indie poppers -- Beulah, the Shins, and Grandaddy, to name some -- Throw Me the Statue stack drum machines, synths, and dime-store instruments on top of sunshiny melodies to bring the sound of California to Seattle." -- AllMusic.com

MY FIRST EARTHQUAKE
"My First Earthquake's bold, synth-riddled indie pop, rooted in Mates of State's angularity and Of Montreal's multi-instrumental jumpiness, places them in the same musical territory as the Kills, the Sounds, and the Blow." --AllMusic.com
