CALIFORNIA (ex-Jawbreaker/Green Day)
CALIFORNIA (ex-Jawbreaker/Green Day)
California is a brand new band by Adam Pfahler of Jawbreaker and Jason White from Green Day.
El Terrible (album release party)
El Terrible (album release party)
El Terrible was the nickname given Terry Ashkinos formerly of Fake Your Own Death (Monolathe Recordings) and Elephone (Talking House Records), during a habenero pepper eating contest while he was working as a short order cook (in a Los Angeles Sizzler). Hailing from San Francisco, El Terrible started in a small apartment above a bar during an extended stay in Berlin where Terry was sent by the US government to study the fall of communism. What came out of that time is a very personal collection of sparse, dark, catchy and literary songs recorded with Rob Easson and Sean Beresford. The band is a ferocious three piece featuring Scott Eberhardt on drums, Adrian McCullough on bass, keys and Terry Ashkinos guitar and vocals. El Terrible have been tearing up local and national bills over the last year opening for bands like Blood Red Shoes, !!!, and The Weekend. The band is both soulful and dynamic, wrought with post-punk urgency.

The debut self-titled EP is available on Breakup Records and the full length, titled Vultures Know, comes out in 2015.
Vela Eyes
Vela Eyes
San Francisco’s Vela Eyes blends indie, shoegaze and post punk with a touch of psych to create lush, timeless pop music that strongly evokes images of the city’s bohemian past. Lyrically, they are inspired by fantasies of love, and the beauty of empowerment.

The band started as a side project between guitarist Ian Zazueta (Delle Vellum, the Paradise Boys) and front woman Florie Maschmeyer – completed by Andrew Dietrich Burmester (Kill Moi, Madelia) as bass player; Jef Pauly (New Diplomat, Modi) as drummer; and Julia Johari as second keyboard player, guitarist and background vocalist.

"A perfect fusion of the rawness of punk influences with the technical proficiency and sampling-song mapping of a DJ set." --San Francisco Bay Guardian.
