If you don't know Charli XCX yet, give it five minutes. The teenage prodigy's about to explode into 2012. Armed with a rampant imagination, a plethora of dark, emotive pop songs, and backed by a growing army of top producers and worldwide fans, Charli is not like your run-of-the-mill musician.
Earlier this summer she released 'Stay Away.' Co-written and produced by Ariel (Glasser, Major Lazer, Rolo Tomassi and frequent Diplo collaborator), it is a massive anthem that combines all the majestic bluster of the '80s with distinct post-millennial production. Guardian Guide made it pick of the week and it made the prestigious Pitchfork Best New Music playlist. This is only the tip of the forthcoming album's iceberg, as Charli proves with new single 'Nuclear Seasons' (set for release at the end of November). Charli comments, "Nuclear seasons is about a sense of decay. Whether it be the decaying of love, the decaying of life or the decaying of a period of time. Its about being lost and frozen and surviving. Its about being on your own and feeling magic and alive when you come through the other side."
All of this only at the age of 19, expect big things from this Goth-pop starlet.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

"Buzz-band is a term that has been fluttering around the Internet for quite some time now. It’s meaning is pretty straightforward: it is an underground indie band, formerly unknown, that comes out with a single worthy of Internet hype. That is why I disagree with labeling the recent indie Internet phenom, The Neighbourhood, as buzzworthy; they are clearly destined for so much more.
The band is also exceptionally mysterious. It’s a quintet based out of LA, with Rutherford as the frontman. However, I couldn’t tell you who plays what instrument. Their website doesn’t even have any biographical information. The shroud of mystery surrounding them is part of the reason people like them so much, they’re not out there for fame and glory—yet—they’re just producing great tracks, (and all of these tracks are available FREE online…just keep reading). Their mysteriousness also perfectly parallels with the way they blend the genres of rock, R&B, and folk in a way only an indie band can.
Their 5-track EP is available for free download on their website. All the tracks are well worth listening to again and again." --Candor News
