Brooding with melancholic beauty, Bain’s 2015 releases have come in the form of April’s Pools To Bathe In and the more recently November released Clean EP, with both gaining critical acclaim. With comparisons to acts like Bon Iver, Imogen Heap, James Blake and, at times, Jeff Buckley, being made; along with acclaim coming from the likes of Beats 1’s Zane Lowe – who catapulted Bain to the forefront when he plucked her debut track ‘Still’ out of nowhere and made it his last ever “Hottest Record” on Radio 1. In addition praise has come from the international tastemakers such as The Guardian, DIY, Noisey, The Sunday Times, The Fader; Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Phil Taggart, Huw Stephens; as well as being made a “one to watch” from both VEVO and blog aggregator, Hype Machine.
Looking towards 2016, Bain will be making steps as she embarks on her second ever UK tour – following her October 2015 debut sold-out run – and will head overseas for the first time with shows in Europe, U.S and Australia. What is sure is that what ever happens next the fascinating talent that is The Japanese House is one to keep tabs on as her engulfing, ever developing sound leads towards her anticipated debut album; one which will continue to see her push the parameters of alt-pop with her personal and unique sound.
