WAVVES In the life of Nathan Williams, the year of 2009 will go down as both a highlight reel and a total shit show. Meteorically, feverishly and somewhat improbably, two albums worth of naïve punk rock he recorded behind his parents’ San Diego home as Wavves became a sensation in the world of indie music. As a result, passports got filled, capers got pulled off and lots of good things got said about the music in both print and digital ink, plus in actual human voices. At the same time, fights got fought, situations got hairy and people got indignant and mean. What’s important now is that, in the beginning of 2010, Williams made King of the Beach, the new Wavves album. King of the Beach is an adventurous and ambitious record. It cuts deeper into the bleeding throat catharsis and ’60s sunshine soul that Wavves is known for. It also unexpectedly flips out with elements of primitive electronics and psychedelic studio experimentation. "Like Times New Viking and Lovvers (yep, another lo-fi project with dual 'v's), the crude boombox-tape recording style and ever present buzzy fuzz surrounding these songs make them more edgy and endearing in their mangled volcanic state. Williams' careless slacker attitude and D.I.Y. aesthetic shines especially bright. Along with the brilliant slice-of-life pop single 'No Hope Kids' and instantly hummable 'So Bored,' the chirpy hooks and fuzzy clatter of "Beach Demon" and "Gun in the Sun" surge with sunshine-filled boyish nostalgia." --AllMusic.com Young Prisms"The Young Prisms are a group of friends making laid-back psych garage music in the foggy Outer Mission district of San Francisco. When you listen to the five piece, or see them live if you're lucky, you can imagine them going to the beach together, drinking beer (or perhaps consuming other, less legal intoxicants) together and making music together- putting on some My Bloody Valentine or Sonic Youth records for inspiration." --Noise Pop The Tet HolidayThe Tet Holiday is a band that loves playing guitar pop at loud volumes. They also love distortion.
